CSA 2007 #12

This week’s share:
Mixed tomatoes- most likely the last of the season for me.
Italian basil- to go with the tomatoes in a panzanella.
Breakfast radishes- I have plans to eat these with just salt and butter.
Sorrel- new to me. I like the sour taste.
Mixed bell peppers
Arugula- tonight’s dinner, as will be shown in my next post.

I planted sorrel in the garden this year - it’s been really great to have around!

How do you usually prepare sorrel, Nicole? Does the flavor change when it is cooked versus raw?

It’s not so much the taste that changes, but the texture.  I like to use it raw as a chiffonade on top of things, or I’ve also used it cooked in soups.  I treat it like spinach.
